About & method
UrbanStudy is a radar for urban research. It continuously collects new output about cities from academic journals, preprint servers, university research centres, think tanks, international organisations, governments and industry, and turns each item into a structured record.
What counts
Anything that produces new knowledge about cities and urbanisation: peer-reviewed articles, preprints, working papers, policy and think-tank reports, flagship reports of international organisations, and commercial research such as city indices and real-estate outlooks.
How items are structured
- Topics — one to four of 70 topics in 15 domains (see taxonomy).
- Time — the publication date of the original, and the date it entered the radar.
- Place — region, countries and cities studied, and spatial scale.
- Method & data — analytical methods and data sources used.
- Content — a short summary, the research question and key findings, written in our own words.
